ORGANIZING
Throughout UFCW Local 88's 100 plus year history,
the local has always been committed to organizing. Organizing non-union companies
helps to maintain and secure the benefits of all our members. Organizing non-union
companies creates a level field of competition for all companies to compete
on equally. Non-union companies have lower wages, fewer benefits (if any) and
inferior working conditions.
The National Labor Relations Act guarantees
employees the right to have a union. "Section 7. Employees shall have the right
to self-organization, to form, join, or assist labor organizations of their
own choosing, and to engage in other concerted activities for the purpose of
collective bargaining or other mutual aid or protection…"
